Fairytale Forest does not employ writers and illustrators on regular basis but the creators change in every magazine – the creators for each magazine are chosen based on portfolios or other proof of skills.

Working in Fairytale Forest
Illustrators
Fairytale Forest supports free flow of artistic intuition and expression. Fairytale Forest is traditional but also an experimental magazine, so it is possible offer out of the ordinary illustration ideas also! Fairytale Forest provides an excellent opportunity to broaden your scope as an illustrator and enhance and expand your skills to your CV/portfolio.
Fairytale Forest strives to give time for the illustrations 1-1,5 months before final DL starting from sketches (about 1-2 weeks) to final illustration (about 3-5 weeks).

Fairytale Forest editorial staff is with you in the illustration process as much as you wish. Communication is via e-mail, Discord, Microsoft Teams or Zoom according to your preferences.
Compensation is to be paid as agreed and compensation is negotiated separately regarding the illustrations before starting the work. Because of the current financial situation of the magazine the amount of the compensation and the timetable for the compensation may vary.
Fairytale Forest does not expect you to work on weekends or on public holidays.

Fairytale Forest publishes for the time being only digital publications and final illustrations are to be delivered to be suitable for digital format.

Before you start working, along with your storyidea please provide an estimate about the number of pages for the final story for Fairytale Forest editorial staff so it’s possible to plan the layout for the next issue of the Magazine.

Fairytale Forest strives to give time for the work 1-1,5 months before final DL. Final editing of texts is to be made by Fairytale Forest editorial staff including proofreading. You can choose if you want your text to be edited together or if you wish editorial staff to do the editing for you. Editing phase for the final work to be published is around 1-2 weeks.

Payments
Fairytale Forest pays its rewards as a work compensation or you can make an invoice.
For international payments Fairytale Forest uses PayPal, Western Union and direct bank transfer.
Please inform the preferred payment method and your bank account details to Fairytale Forest editorial staff once you have been chosen to create an issue of Fairytale Forest.Fairytale Forest editorial staff wishes that in the near future it would be possible to pay rewards which are in line with the recommendations.
Publishing rights
Currently Fairytale Forest uses one-time publishing right for all the material published in the magazine, be it a story, a poem or an illustration. Author or illustrator will accept right to use their original work in marketing and in various platforms Fairytale Forest is operating besides publishing the work in the magazine.
As a basic rule, all the rights for the creations (poem, story, illustration) done for the magazine will stay with the creators once the magazine has been published and creator can re-publish his or her work outside of Fairytale Forest without any time constraints. Rule might be under negotiation depending on the situation and Fairytale Forest editorial staff will initiate the negotiations with the author or illustrator if this is the case.
Fairytale Forest publishes also already published material – if you want to re-publish in Fairytale Forest, please check the right to re-publish with your previous publisher.
You can share information/pictures about the creative process of stories/illustrations to your own social media before the magazine is published.
Fairytale Forest gives its creators LinkedIn -recommendation and/or other recommendation by request.

AI & Fairytale Forest
As a general principle and in order to maintain the core crafting skills in the areas of art and culture and high quality of the magazine, in Fairytale Forest we do not use Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the content created, be it a story, a poem or an illustration. Artificial Intelligence is not be used in brainstorming the ideas for the content of Fairytale Forest either.
If Artificial Intelligence is used in the content creation in Fairytale Forest, this will always be informed for the readers of Fairytale Forest.
If you use Artificial Intelligence in your content creation AND/OR in brainstorming for contents, please keep us informed about this so we can do the arrangements needed.
